Description
This resin dragon figurine captures a winged dragon perched on top of a skull, claws gripping the bone and head turned to one side with its jaws open. Its scales carry a metallic blue effect that shifts towards purple on the wing edges, the spines along its back and the curl of its tail, with silvery tones on the wing membranes and down its chest. Below it, the pale grey skull stares out with deep, dark eye sockets, while a cluster of brown mushrooms rises around it from a dark, rocky base threaded with roots. It stands 20cm tall, 16cm wide and 12cm deep.
At 20cm tall it is a comfortable size for a bookshelf, a mantelpiece or the corner of a desk, where it holds its own without crowding the space around it. It stands freely on its broad base, so there is nothing to hang and no wall fixing to think about, and the 12cm depth means it fits on most shelves. We like it in a study, a games room or a bedroom, or anywhere a little fantasy and a touch of the gothic would be welcome. Because it is detailed from every side, it rewards a spot where it can be seen from more than one angle, such as a display cabinet or a side table.
The figurine is made from resin, which holds fine detail well, from the scales and claws to the textured mushroom caps, and its metallic effect finish catches the light as you pass. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft, dry brush or cloth that reaches into the scales and around the mushrooms, and wipe the skull with a barely damp cloth when needed. We would keep it indoors on a level surface. Give it a shelf of its own where the light falls across the wings, or wrap it up as a memorable gift.
