Description
The Winchfield is a 445mm picture light with two E14 bulb fittings on an adjustable aged brass frame, mounted on an oak effect backplate. The curved brass arm pivots on a brass-bushed joint, allowing the light to be angled towards the artwork or photograph it's illuminating. Each E14 fitting accepts bulbs up to 40W (sold separately), giving flexibility to choose filament, halogen or LED bulbs depending on the heat sensitivity of the piece being lit.
Designed for wall-mounted installation above framed artwork, mirrors or photographs, the Winchfield suits traditional and mid-century interiors where warm metallic tones and wood textures are present. The 318mm projection from the wall allows the light to clear most frame depths and direct illumination onto the artwork surface rather than the wall behind. The oak effect backplate is a wood-grain laminate over metal, not solid timber, which keeps the weight manageable for typical wall fixings.
The aged brass finish shows deliberate tarnishing and patina that gives variation across the surface, darker in recesses and lighter on high points. This contrasts with the warmer, grain-visible oak effect backplate and provides a visual break between the metallic frame and the wall. The combined metal frame, laminate backplate and hardware give the fitting a substantial presence without overwhelming smaller artworks in the 400-600mm width range.

Frequently Asked
What size artwork does the Winchfield suit?
The 445mm width works best above artwork between 400-700mm wide. Narrower pieces may look out of proportion with the light, while very wide pieces (over 900mm) would benefit from a longer picture light or two smaller fittings.
Can the angle be adjusted after installation?
Yes. The brass arm pivots on a joint, allowing the light to be angled towards the artwork. The joint holds the angle once set but can be re-adjusted as needed.
What bulbs are recommended?
Two E14 bulbs up to 40W each are needed (sold separately). Most users choose warm-white LED candle bulbs between 3-6W and 2700K-3000K. Filament-style candle bulbs work well if the bulbs are visible from below, otherwise standard frosted LED candles provide more even light spread.
Is the backplate solid wood?
No. The oak effect backplate is a wood-grain laminate over a metal base, not solid timber. This gives the appearance of oak grain while keeping the weight and cost down compared to solid hardwood construction.
