Description
The Whitecap is a 3-light semi-flush ceiling fitting with an amber scalloped glass bowl that curves upward into a matt black canopy. The glass shade is moulded into vertical petal-like segments that fan outward from a central point, giving the fitting a sculptural profile whilst keeping the overall height under 230mm from ceiling to glass base. Three E14 bulbs sit inside the glass bowl, with light diffusing through the amber-toned glass and casting soft refracted patterns across the ceiling surface.
Designed for rooms where a full pendant would sit too low, the Whitecap works in hallways with ceiling heights around 2.3-2.5m, bedrooms where headroom above the bed matters, and entrance halls or landings where a decorative fitting is wanted without encroaching into the walking space. The 297mm diameter gives presence without dominating a 3-4m room width. The semi-flush format means the canopy sits flush to the ceiling rose whilst the glass bowl drops approximately 170mm below.
The amber glass carries a mottled, hand-blown appearance with slight tonal variation across each petal segment, giving the fitting a warmer, less industrial finish than clear or frosted glass equivalents. The matt black canopy absorbs light rather than reflecting it, creating contrast against the warm glass and working well in interiors with dark wood, antique brass fittings, or warm-toned paint finishes. The scalloped form references mid-century and Art Deco glass detailing without being overtly period-specific.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Whitecap takes three E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each up to 40W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED candle bulbs around 4-6W and 2700K to complement the amber glass tone.
What ceiling height is needed?
The fitting projects 226mm from the ceiling to the base of the glass bowl. It works in rooms with ceiling heights from 2.3m upward, where a longer pendant drop would intrude into headroom. The semi-flush format keeps the profile compact for hallways, bedrooms and landing areas.
Does the glass vary between fittings?
The amber glass has a mottled, hand-blown appearance with slight tonal variation across the scalloped segments. Minor differences in amber depth and mottling pattern are normal for this type of moulded glass shade.
Is it suitable for low ceilings?
Yes. The 226mm total height makes it one of the more compact semi-flush options for rooms where ceiling clearance is limited but a decorative ceiling fitting is still wanted over a basic flush mount.
