Description

The Wexford is a 2.28m dual-lantern outdoor lamp post finished in black and silver with two hand-leaded glass housings mounted on curved arms. Each lantern contains five separate pieces of glass joined with lead came in a diamond pattern, surrounding an E27 bulb fitting rated for up to 60W per lantern. The post carries an IP44 rating for outdoor weather protection against splashing water from any direction.

Designed for driveways, front gardens and pathways where street lighting is absent or where additional illumination is required beyond a single porch light, the Wexford provides two light sources at 2.1m head height. The dual-lantern configuration spreads light over a wider area than single-lantern posts, making it suitable for covering driveway entrances, illuminating gate approaches or lighting the full width of a garden path. The post mounts on a concrete foundation or hard base and requires mains electrical connection run underground in suitable conduit.

The black finish covers the aluminium post body while the silver detailing accents the lantern caps, finials and decorative rings on the column. Each lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use warm-white LED bulbs between 8-12W and 2700K for outdoor pathway lighting that mimics traditional incandescent colour.

How is the lamp post installed?

The Wexford requires a concrete foundation or hard base at ground level, with mains electrical supply run underground in suitable outdoor-rated conduit. The post bolts to the foundation and the electrical connection is made inside the base of the column. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with BS 7671 wiring regulations.

What does the IP44 rating cover?

IP44 certifies protection against solid objects larger than 1mm and against water splashing from any direction. This makes the Wexford suitable for open garden and driveway installation in typical UK weather, but it should not be installed in locations subject to standing water or direct hose-down cleaning.

Can replacement glass panels be sourced if one breaks?

Yes. The hand-leaded glass panels are replaceable. Contact Elstead Lighting or Niori directly with the model number and a description of the damaged panel to source a replacement. Each panel is individually made, so slight variation in the leadwork is normal.
