Description

The Waverly is a single-light wall fitting with a circular natural brass backplate, curved brass arm and a clear seeded glass shade. The shade is a tapered cylinder with hand-applied seed texture that scatters light into subtle sparkle patterns on surrounding walls. The E27 bulb fitting inside the shade accepts standard Edison screw bulbs up to 60W, allowing choice of LED, filament or halogen depending on the room.

Designed for hallways, bathroom mirrors, bedroom reading positions and flanking entrance doors, the Waverly provides both ambient and task light depending on bulb choice. The 235mm projection from the wall and the downward arc of the brass arm position the light source forward of the mounting surface, directing light outward rather than straight down. The 175mm width makes it suitable for walls with limited horizontal space.

The natural brass finish develops a darker patina over time as the metal oxidises, giving the fitting a lived-in character that pairs comfortably with traditional and transitional interiors. The seeded glass texture is hand-applied during the glassblowing process, so each shade has a slightly different bubble and seed pattern. The brass components are solid metal with a clear lacquer coating that slows the patina process but does not prevent it entirely.

What bulb does it take?

The Waverly takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to suit the vintage styling.

Will the brass finish change over time?

Yes. Natural brass oxidises and develops a darker patina with exposure to air and moisture. The clear lacquer coating slows this process but does not stop it. This is normal behaviour for unlacquered and lightly-lacquered brass, and many buyers choose natural brass specifically for this ageing characteristic.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

The Waverly carries no IP rating and is designed for dry indoor locations. It can be used in bathrooms where it will not be exposed to direct water spray, such as beside a mirror in a position more than 600mm from the edge of a bath or shower enclosure (UK Zone 2 or beyond).

How is the seeded glass cleaned?

The seed texture traps dust more readily than smooth glass. Wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth when the fitting is off and cool. For more stubborn marks, a barely-damp cloth with distilled water is acceptable, but avoid soaking the brass fittings and do not use household sprays or polishes on the brass.
