Description

The Wald is an outdoor LED wall light with a 180mm diameter circular graphite metal faceplate set 40mm from the wall, concealing an integrated 12W 3000K LED behind. The LED casts light in a radial wash across the wall surface, leaving the metal disc itself unlit and creating a halo effect around the fixture at night.

Designed for patios, entryways, garden walls and exterior corridors, the Wald fits directly to a masonry surface or rendered wall via a rear mounting plate, with the cable entering through a knockout in the backplate. The IP65 rating protects the internal LED driver and electronics from dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making the fitting suitable for year-round outdoor installation in exposed positions including under eaves and on boundary walls.

The graphite powder-coated finish sits somewhere between charcoal and gunmetal grey, with a low-sheen matt surface that resists corrosion in coastal and damp climates. The 12W output provides sufficient illumination for doorway recognition and step visibility without overlighting a residential garden. The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm white light that avoids the clinical tone of cooler LEDs while maintaining good colour rendering for exterior landscaping.

Maytoni supplies the Wald with a 3-year manufacturer warranty covering the integrated LED and driver. The LED is non-replaceable but carries a rated lifespan of 30,000 hours — approximately 10 years under typical residential outdoor use of 8 hours per night.

Frequently Asked

What does IP65 mean for outdoor use?

IP65 means the fitting is fully dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. This makes it suitable for exposed outdoor positions including under eaves, on garden walls, and in areas where rain may strike the fitting directly. It is not submersible.

Can the LED be replaced?

No. The 12W LED is integrated into the fitting and cannot be replaced. The LED carries a rated lifespan of 30,000 hours, which equates to approximately 10 years at 8 hours per night. Maytoni provides a 3-year warranty covering the LED and driver.

How is it wired and fitted?

The Wald mounts directly to a wall surface via a rear metal backplate with two fixing points. Mains cable enters through a knockout in the backplate and connects to the internal driver. Installation requires a qualified electrician and a suitable outdoor-rated cable from the mains supply.

What light pattern does it produce?

The LED is concealed behind the metal disc and casts light radially across the wall surface in all directions, creating a halo effect around the fitting at night. The faceplate itself remains unlit. This provides ambient wall-wash lighting rather than a directed beam.
