Description
The Wald is a 40cm LED bollard light with an integrated 12W 3000K LED housed inside a cylindrical graphite-finish metal column. The light source sits beneath a flat top cap, casting warm white downlight onto pathways, driveways, and garden borders through a frosted diffuser ring.
Designed for permanent outdoor installation in residential gardens, commercial pathways and hospitality grounds, the bollard fits a concrete base or paving slab installation with an underground cable run. The 18cm diameter column provides enough presence to be visible during daylight without dominating narrow pathways, while the 40cm height positions the light source low enough to avoid glare at eye level when walking past. The IP65 rating seals the internal components against rain ingress and dust infiltration, making the fitting suitable for UK coastal locations and exposed positions.
The graphite finish is a mid-tone charcoal grey with a smooth powder-coated surface that resists corrosion and UV fade. The metal construction handles temperature fluctuations between winter frost and summer heat without warping or cracking, and the LED runs cool enough that the outer column remains safe to touch when lit. The 3000K colour temperature gives a warm white light that pairs well with brick, stone and timber landscaping materials without the stark blue cast of higher-temperature LEDs.
The Wald is part of Maytoni's German-engineered outdoor lighting range, built to the same construction standards as their architectural bollards but at a residential scale and price point. The integrated LED removes the need for lamp replacement and the 12W output provides functional path lighting without the energy draw of older halogen bollards.

Frequently Asked
What installation method does the Wald require?
The bollard requires a concrete base or paving slab installation with an underground cable run feeding 220-240V mains. The base plate at the bottom of the column bolts down to a prepared surface with waterproof cable glands protecting the entry point.
What does IP65 mean in practice?
IP65 means the bollard is dust-tight (IP6X) and protected against water jets from any direction (IPX5). In practical terms it will handle rain, snow, coastal spray and garden hose water without internal damage, but should not be submerged.
Can the LED be replaced?
No. The 12W LED is integrated into the bollard assembly and not user-replaceable. LED lifespan is typically 25,000-50,000 hours depending on ambient temperature, which equates to 8-16 years at 8 hours per night.
How far apart should bollards be spaced?
For functional pathway lighting, space bollards 3-4m apart. For decorative accent lighting along borders, 4-6m spacing works. The 12W output provides a pool of light approximately 2m in diameter on level ground.
