Wakefield Outdoor 1 Light Wall Lantern - Earth Black

The Wakefield is a 280mm outdoor wall lantern built from weather-resistant composite material, finished in earth black with clear seeded glass panels on four sides. A single E27 bulb (sold separately, up to 60W) sits behind the glass, diffusing light through the seeded texture to create a warm, textured glow suitable for porches, patios and garden paths. The frame-within-a-frame construction gives the lantern architectural depth without bulk.

Designed for coastal and moisture-prone environments, the composite material resists corrosion from salt air and damp conditions better than traditional cast metal. The IP44 rating protects the internal bulb holder from moisture ingress and dust, making the lantern suitable for exposed positions including uncovered porches and garden walls. The 197mm projection from the wall places the light source clear of most door frames and window sills.

The earth black finish provides a deep, slightly textured coating that sits between pure matt black and powder-coated gloss, reducing visible weathering over time compared to painted metal alternatives. The seeded glass panels contain small bubbles and texture variations that scatter light, avoiding harsh glare while maintaining useful illumination levels for entry lighting and path marking. The lantern weighs approximately 1.2kg when fitted and mounts to a standard external wall box.

Quoizel covers this model with a 5-year guarantee against manufacturing defects. The composite construction requires no seasonal maintenance beyond occasional rinsing to remove coastal salt deposits or garden dust.

What bulb does the Wakefield take?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 4-8W and 2200K-2700K to complement the seeded glass and traditional styling.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The Wakefield is constructed from weather-resistant composite material specifically designed to withstand salt air and coastal moisture. Unlike cast aluminium or steel, the composite does not corrode, making it well-suited to seaside installations.

Can it be installed in fully exposed positions?

The IP44 rating protects against moisture and dust ingress, so the lantern can be installed in exposed positions including uncovered porches and external walls. The rating does not protect against direct water jets or submersion, so avoid mounting where rainwater pooling or pressure washing might direct water into the top of the fitting.

How is the seeded glass cleaned?

The glass panels can be wiped with a damp microfibre cloth and mild soapy water. The seeded texture traps less visible dirt than smooth glass, but coastal salt deposits may build up over time and benefit from seasonal rinsing with fresh water.
