Description

The Villanova 1 Lighting Track is a straight length of black aluminium track, 100cm long, 3cm wide and 2.2cm high. Look at the cut end and you can see the channel inside that carries the power along its whole length, while the black outer face keeps a slim, tidy line. It has no lamp socket of its own, so the light comes from the track heads you choose to fit along it. It weighs 0.56KG. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms only.

Track suits rooms where you want light aimed at more than one thing: a kitchen worktop and a dining table, the pictures along a hallway, the shelves and desk in a home office, or a reading corner in a living room. Rather than one fixed point, a single 100cm run gives you a line from which to place and move the light as the room changes, which is ideal when furniture is rearranged or another picture needs lighting. In black it reads crisply against pale plaster and sits comfortably with black-framed windows, dark joinery and industrial-style rooms.

The body is aluminium with a black finish, and it runs on mains power at 220-240V, 50/60Hz. There is no switch on the track itself: it is switched at the wall, so it is controlled from a wall switch. As a wired mains fitting it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. Aluminium does not rust, so care is simple: switch off at the wall and wipe the track with a soft, dry cloth.
