Viiva 5ft 42W Adjustable Linear Fitting - Matt Black

The Viiva is a 1500mm linear LED fitting with selectable wattage output (20W, 28W, 38W, 42W) and switchable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K, 5700K), set via switches inside the housing before installation. The matt black aluminium body measures 63mm high by 48mm wide and houses an integrated LED module rated for 230V mains operation. At the lowest wattage setting the fitting achieves UGR19 glare rating, making it suitable for screen-based work environments where visual comfort matters.

Designed for commercial offices, meeting rooms, retail fitting rooms and hospitality back-of-house areas, the Viiva can be surface-mounted directly to the ceiling or suspended on cables depending on the mounting bracket selected. The 90° beam angle provides uniform distribution along desks, corridors and counters without creating sharp shadows or bright spots. The ability to switch between four wattage settings during commissioning allows one fitting type to serve different lux requirements without changing the luminaire itself.

The matt black finish provides a low-key architectural presence on white or grey ceilings and pairs cleanly with black trunking, black suspended grid systems and industrial-style interiors. The aluminium body acts as a heatsink for the LED module, helping maintain output and extend LED life beyond typical commercial refit cycles. The IP20 rating suits dry internal spaces but not zones subject to direct water spray or condensation.

The Viiva is compatible with a separate Knightsbridge emergency kit (sold separately) that converts the fitting to maintained or non-maintained emergency operation, allowing it to meet UK emergency lighting regulations where required.

How do you change the wattage and colour temperature settings?

Both settings are controlled by DIP switches inside the housing, accessible before the fitting is installed and connected to mains. Once set and installed, the settings remain fixed unless the fitting is removed and re-accessed. The switches are not designed for regular adjustment after commissioning.

What lux level does this provide at desk height?

Lux at desk height depends on mounting height, wattage setting and CCT selected. At 42W and 4000K, the fitting outputs approximately 3645 lumens, which at 2.4m ceiling height provides roughly 300-400 lux directly below the fitting when spaced at 2.5m intervals. Lower wattage settings reduce this proportionally.

Can it be dimmed?

No. The Viiva does not support dimming and should be specified for applications where on/off switching or fixed output is acceptable. If dimming is required, consider alternative Knightsbridge linear fittings with DALI or mains-dimming drivers.

Is the emergency kit sold separately?

Yes. The emergency conversion kit is a separate product available from Niori. It allows the fitting to operate as maintained or non-maintained emergency lighting to meet Building Regulations Part B requirements where applicable.
