Venus Large Outdoor Drive Over Recessed Ground Light - Black

The Venus is a 160mm diameter recessed ground light built from high-performance black resin rated to support vehicle loads up to 5000kg. A GX53 bulb fitting sits behind a flush-mounted diffuser that spreads light across the ground plane in a cross-hatch pattern through two opposing apertures on the rim. The fitting is IP67-rated against dust ingress and temporary water immersion, and handles temperature ranges from -60°C to +90°C.

Designed for driveways, parking areas, pathways and courtyard edges where vehicles pass over the light, the Venus installs flush with paving or resin-bound surfaces. The 160mm body requires a recessed well approximately 180mm wide and 100mm deep to be formed in the ground during construction, with the 2150mm cable run allowing the fitting to be positioned several metres from the nearest junction box or driver unit. The GX53 bulb is dimmable when paired with a compatible driver.

The black resin body resists corrosion from atmospheric moisture, road salt and chemical fertilisers without requiring protective coatings or regular maintenance. The material absorbs minor impacts from vehicle tyres without cracking, and the low-profile design prevents the fitting from being caught by low-clearance vehicles. The diffuser provides even illumination in a 180-degree spread from each aperture, creating marker lighting along driveways or accent lighting at building thresholds.

What weight load can the Venus support?

The fitting is rated to support vehicle loads up to 5000kg, making it suitable for driveways where cars, vans and small commercial vehicles pass over. For heavier plant vehicles or lorries, check with Niori before installation.

What bulb does it take and is it included?

The Venus takes a GX53 bulb (sold separately). The fitting is dimmable when paired with a compatible LED driver and dimmer switch. Most users install a warm-white GX53 LED between 5-9W for pathway and driveway marker lighting.

What installation depth is required?

The fitting requires a recessed well approximately 180mm wide and 100mm deep to be formed in the ground during construction. The well must be lined with suitable drainage to prevent water pooling beneath the fitting.

Can it be installed in existing paving?

Retrofitting into existing paving is possible but requires cutting a 180mm diameter hole through the surface and forming a properly-drained well beneath. This typically involves core-drilling and underpinning with concrete or compacted stone, which is easier to achieve during new-build or resurfacing projects.
