The Venetian Rain is a 787mm outdoor wall lantern in brushed bronze, built around a tapered glass enclosure with a rain-textured finish and three E14 bulb fittings inside. The cast metal frame carries ornamental beading along the roof ridge and base, with decorative scrollwork on the wall mounting bracket. The brushed bronze finish sits between antique and polished bronze, giving a mid-tone metallic presence without excessive weathering or high shine.

Designed for exposed positions on large porches, tall entrance doorways and garden walls, the lantern stands 787mm from wall mounting point to base finial, with a 343mm projection from the wall. The rain glass distorts the bulb outline and diffuses light across the porch floor, reducing glare while maintaining enough downward throw to illuminate a wide entrance step or doorway. The IP44 rating protects against rain ingress from any direction and allows safe installation on walls without covered soffits.

The glass enclosure tapers from a 200mm-wide shoulder at the roof to a 150mm-wide base, holding three E14 bulbs arranged vertically inside the lantern body (bulbs sold separately). The rain texture in the glass creates a rippled surface that catches daylight and gives the lantern visual weight even when unlit. The brushed bronze metalwork pairs with traditional stone, brick or painted render exteriors and works alongside classical door furniture in similar bronze or brass tones.

What bulbs does it take and are they included?

The lantern takes three E14 small Edison screw bulbs, each up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit warm-white LED candle bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K for porch lighting that approximates traditional incandescent warmth.

Can it be installed on an exposed wall without a porch canopy?

Yes. The IP44 rating protects the electrical components and bulb fittings against rain and spray from any direction, making it safe to install on fully exposed exterior walls. The rain glass enclosure is sealed top and bottom to the metal frame.

What wall fixing method is needed?

The lantern mounts via a backplate approximately 200mm tall by 120mm wide, with two or three fixing points depending on wall construction. For brick or stone use wall plugs and screws; for timber cladding use appropriate exterior wood screws. The combined weight of the metal frame and glass is approximately 3-4kg, requiring secure fixings into solid substrate.

How is the bronze finish maintained?

The brushed bronze is a factory-applied coating over cast metal. No polishing or waxing is needed. For general cleaning, wipe with a damp cloth and dry immediately to avoid water spotting. The finish will develop a natural patina over years of exterior exposure, darkening slightly in sheltered areas and lightening where rain washes the surface regularly.
