Description

The Velum is a 500mm diameter flush ceiling and wall light with four E27 bulb holders behind a circular sandblasted white glass diffuser. The glass sits against the ceiling or wall surface on chrome metal hooks held by a spring-lock mechanism, keeping the overall projection to approximately 90mm from the mounting surface. The four bulbs are arranged in a square pattern behind the diffuser, distributing light evenly across the 500mm diameter circle.

Designed for living rooms, dining rooms, larger bedrooms and hallways with ceiling heights between 2.2m and 2.6m, the Velum provides general ambient light where recessed downlights or pendant fittings are not practical. The flush mount makes it suitable for low ceilings and for wall mounting where sconce fittings would project too far into the room. The IP20 rating limits it to dry indoor environments only. The fitting is dimmable when paired with dimmable E27 LED bulbs and a compatible dimmer switch.

The sandblasted finish on the white glass softens light output and hides the individual bulbs from view when the light is on, preventing glare from naked filaments or LED chips. The chrome spring hooks and locking rings add a functional detail to the otherwise minimal white glass disc. Each E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose brightness and colour temperature to suit the room (bulbs sold separately). The fitting itself is dimmable. To dim the light output you need dimmable E27 LED bulbs and a compatible LED dimmer switch on the circuit. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before purchasing.
