Description

The Velox is a 6m outdoor string light set with 10 E27 bulb holders spaced evenly along a weatherproof black cable, rated IP44 for outdoor use. Each bulb holder accepts a standard E27 bulb (sold separately), and the set connects to mains power via a moulded plug suitable for outdoor sockets or weatherproof enclosures.

Designed for patios, gardens, terraces and outdoor dining areas, the 6m length allows the string to be draped between posts, hung along pergola beams, or looped around gazebo frames. The 10 bulb positions sit approximately 500mm apart, giving even light distribution across the run. The IP44 rating protects the cable and fittings against water splashes from any direction, making the set suitable for year-round outdoor installation in UK weather conditions.

The black cable finish blends into dark timber, metal frames and foliage backgrounds, keeping the focus on the bulbs rather than the wiring. When paired with warm-white filament-style LED bulbs, the Velox creates the festoon lighting aesthetic common in outdoor hospitality and residential garden spaces. The set is dimmable when used with compatible E27 dimmable bulbs and a mains dimmer, allowing light levels to be adjusted from bright task lighting for outdoor dining to low ambient light for evening gatherings.

Ideal Lux manufactures the Velox in Italy with a 5-year warranty covering manufacturing defects. The cable uses a flexible rubber compound that remains pliable in cold weather and resists UV degradation from prolonged sun exposure.

Are bulbs included?

No. The Velox is supplied as a cable set with 10 empty E27 bulb holders. You can use any standard E27 bulbs up to the maximum wattage specified by Ideal Lux (typically 40-60W per bulb), including LED, filament, or halogen types.

What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?

IP44 protection means the cable and fittings resist water splashes from any direction and solid objects larger than 1mm. This makes the Velox suitable for uncovered outdoor areas exposed to rain, but not for full immersion or pressure-washing.

Can the string lights be dimmed?

Yes, if you use dimmable E27 bulbs and connect the set to a compatible mains dimmer. The cable itself supports dimming, but the bulbs must also be rated as dimmable for this to work.

How far apart are the bulb holders?

The 10 bulb holders are spaced evenly along the 6m cable, placing them approximately 500mm apart. The exact spacing may vary slightly depending on the position of the mains plug and end termination.
