Description

The Varas is a 33cm wall light with a rotating gold cylinder mounted on a matte white base, housing an integrated 15W 3000K LED behind an opal diffuser. The gold arm rotates on a horizontal axis, allowing the light to be directed up or down across a range of approximately 180 degrees, making it function as adjustable reading light, bedside task light, or wall wash depending on how it's positioned.

Designed for bedrooms, hallways and reading corners where directional light is needed without a table lamp footprint, the Varas mounts flush to the wall on a circular 11cm backplate. The rotating mechanism means a single fitting can serve multiple purposes: angled down over a bedside table for reading, tilted upwards to wash light across a ceiling, or positioned horizontally to graze light along a textured wall. IP20 rating limits it to dry indoor spaces.

The contrast between the matte white base and polished gold tube gives the fitting a two-tone presence that stands out more than single-finish wall lights. The opal diffuser inside the gold tube prevents direct glare from the LED strip while still allowing the warm light to project clearly. At 1.08kg the fitting has enough weight to feel substantial on the wall without needing additional reinforcement beyond standard cavity wall fixings. The dimmable LED works with most trailing-edge dimmers, allowing brightness to be adjusted from 100% down to a low nightlight level.

Schuller manufactures this in Spain. The gold finish is lacquered metal rather than plated brass, so it holds its colour without tarnishing but should be dusted rather than wiped with damp cloths to avoid marking the lacquer. The white base is powder-coated steel with a soft-touch matte finish that hides minor scuffs better than gloss white.

Yes. The integrated 15W LED is dimmable and works with most trailing-edge dimmers. Compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model, so check with the dimmer manufacturer or contact us before pairing if you're unsure.

How far does the arm rotate?

The gold cylinder rotates approximately 180 degrees on a horizontal axis, allowing it to be angled from pointing upwards to pointing downwards. This makes it adaptable as reading light, ambient wash light or directional task light.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

No. The IP20 rating means it's suitable only for dry indoor spaces. It cannot be used in bathrooms, wet rooms or outdoor locations.

What installation is required?

The Varas is Class 1, so it requires an earth connection. The 11cm circular backplate mounts to a standard wall box or directly to the wall with cavity fixings.
