Description

The Varas is an 8cm diameter cylindrical pendant in matt white metal with an integrated 5W LED and an opal acrylic diffuser at the base. The 50cm metal tube conceals the cable run and houses the LED driver, with the opal diffuser emitting 450lm of warm 3000K light in a downward cone. The pendant is dimmable on compatible trailing-edge dimmers, allowing output to be reduced from full brightness to low ambient.

Designed for task and accent lighting over kitchen islands, dining tables, hallway runs and bedside positions, the Varas works as a single pendant in small spaces or in multiples spaced 80-120cm apart for linear installations. The drop is adjustable between 65cm and 140cm on installation, fitting ceiling heights from 2.4m to 3m. The 8cm diameter keeps the pendant compact enough not to obstruct sightlines in narrow hallways or above smaller tables.

The matt white finish on the metal tube diffuses daylight reflections and pairs cleanly with white or light-coloured ceilings, creating a near-seamless join between pendant and ceiling rose. The opal acrylic diffuser softens the LED point source into an even wash of light without visible hot spots. At 0.79kg the pendant is light enough to hang from standard UK ceiling roses without additional structural support.

Yes. The integrated LED is dimmable on compatible trailing-edge dimmers. Check with the dimmer manufacturer that it supports a 5W LED load before pairing.

What drop height works best?

The adjustable drop of 65-140cm suits most residential ceiling heights. Over a dining table or kitchen island, position the pendant 70-90cm above the surface. For hallways or bedside positions, a higher mounting closer to 65cm works well to keep the pendant above head height.

Can multiple Varas pendants be grouped?

Yes. Spacing pendants 80-120cm apart creates a linear installation suitable for kitchen islands or long dining tables. Each pendant is wired independently to the mains, so grouping requires either multiple ceiling roses or a multi-outlet ceiling plate.

What is the light output?

The Varas produces 450lm at 3000K, roughly equivalent to a 40W incandescent bulb. This suits task and accent lighting rather than primary ambient lighting for large rooms.
