Description

The Varas is a 9-light LED semi-flush ceiling light built around nine cylindrical tubes arranged in alternating heights across a 42cm diameter matt black circular canopy. Five tubes are finished in matt black, four in glossy gold, each housing an integrated LED module behind an opal acrylic diffuser. The total output is 45W at 3000K warm white, dimmable on compatible dimmers.

Designed for rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 2.8m where a full pendant drop would be too dominant, the Varas sits 35cm below the ceiling rose and spreads light both downward and across the ceiling plane. The alternating tube heights create visual rhythm without uniformity, while the black and gold contrast gives the fitting presence in contemporary, art deco and transitional interiors. Suits dining rooms, hallways, living rooms and bedrooms where the ceiling fixture acts as a focal point.

The glossy gold tubes reflect ambient light during the day and create warm metallic highlights when the fitting is switched on, while the matt black tubes absorb reflections and recede visually. Each tube is approximately 30mm in diameter, scaled to suit residential ceilings without overwhelming the proportions of a typical 4m x 4m room. The 5.35kg weight requires secure fixing to a joist or ceiling anchor rather than direct plasterboard mounting.

The integrated LED modules are rated at 4,050 lumens combined output with a CRI above 80, providing sufficient general illumination for a 15-20m² room without additional ceiling fittings. Yes. The integrated LED modules are dimmable when paired with a compatible LED dimmer switch. Dimmer compatibility varies by manufacturer — test with your specific dimmer model before installation or contact us for recommendations.

What ceiling height does it need?

The fixture projects 35cm below the ceiling rose. It works best in rooms with ceiling heights between 2.4m and 2.8m, where it provides presence without dominating the space. In rooms with ceilings below 2.4m the tubes may feel visually low.

Can it be installed directly into plasterboard?

No. The 5.35kg weight requires fixing to a ceiling joist or a plasterboard anchor rated for at least 8-10kg. The circular canopy is 42cm diameter, so ensure the fixing point can support both the weight and the canopy footprint.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating restricts use to dry interior locations. Bathrooms require fittings rated IP44 or higher depending on zone.
