Description

The Varas is a 14-light LED bar pendant built around a rectangular black metal canopy measuring 82cm × 25cm, from which fourteen cylindrical metal rods hang at staggered heights on individual cables. Seven rods are finished in matt black, seven in glossy gold, each housing an integrated LED light source behind an opal acrylic diffuser at the base. The 70W integrated LED system runs at 3000K and is controlled via a supplied remote control that allows stepless dimming and on/off switching.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living areas with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above, the Varas provides both task and ambient light through the combination of downward-directed rods and the soft glow from the opal diffusers. The drop is adjustable between 50cm and 140cm on installation, allowing the lowest rod to hang 60-80cm above a dining surface or 70-90cm above a kitchen worktop. The alternating black and gold finish creates visual rhythm without requiring symmetry, making the pendant work over rectangular tables and L-shaped islands where a single central light would leave corners underlit.

Each rod is a hollow metal tube with the LED mounted inside and the opal diffuser closing the bottom aperture, so the light casts downward with minimal upward spill. The black canopy mounts to a standard UK ceiling rose and the individual cables can be adjusted independently during fitting to create the staggered cascade shown in the image, or set to a more uniform height if preferred. At 11.05kg the pendant requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or structural support rather than plasterboard alone. The IP20 rating limits the Varas to dry indoor use.

Is the Varas dimmable?

Yes. The integrated 70W LED is fully dimmable via the supplied remote control, which allows stepless dimming from 100% output down to a low ambient level, plus on/off switching without needing to wire a separate dimmer switch.

What ceiling height is needed?

The drop is adjustable between 50cm and 140cm. For a dining table the pendant typically hangs 60-80cm above the surface, which works in rooms with ceiling heights of 2.6m or above. The staggered rod arrangement means the lowest rod will hang furthest, so account for that when setting the drop.

Can the rods be adjusted to different heights?

Yes. Each of the fourteen rods hangs on an individual cable that can be adjusted independently during installation, allowing you to recreate the staggered cascade shown in the image or set them to a more uniform height if preferred.

What weight support is needed for installation?

At 11.05kg the Varas requires secure fixing to a ceiling joist or structural support. Standard plasterboard fixings are not adequate — the canopy must be screwed into solid timber, concrete, or a joist located above the plasterboard.
