Description

A small clear candle lamp with a gently tapered tip, shaped for fittings where the lamp is part of what you see rather than hidden behind a shade. It draws 4W and gives a warm white light at 2700K, close in colour to the old incandescent candle lamps it stands in for, so it flatters wood, brass and painted plaster instead of cooling them down. It dims, as long as the dimmer on the circuit is one rated to handle LED loads.

We reach for this in multi-arm chandeliers and small pendants, in wall lights with clip shades, and in bedside and table lamps that take the smaller screw cap. The light spreads right around the lamp rather than firing forward, which suits open or clear shades where you want the whole fitting to glow. It earns its keep in dining rooms and hallways, where several lamps often run together on one dimmer and the light needs to drop low without going cold or flickering.

The clear envelope keeps the outline crisp and lets the shape read properly when the fitting is unlit, and the compact body means it sits neatly inside candle tubes and narrow shades without crowding them. Looking after it takes very little: turn the power off, let the lamp go cold, then run a dry cloth over the glass to lift dust, keeping sprays and damp cloths well away from the cap. Keep it to dry rooms indoors on the usual household supply. It carries a three year warranty.
