Description
The Vail is a 52cm drum pendant combining a matt white metal frame with a blown and acid-etched opal glass diffuser, housing three E27 bulb fittings inside the drum. The glass diffuser softens and spreads light from the three bulbs evenly across the underside of the pendant, avoiding harsh downward spots while still providing functional task light below.
Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and open-plan living spaces with ceiling heights of 2.4m or above, the 52cm diameter suits table lengths of 1.6-2.2m or worktop runs of 2-3m. The pendant suspends on adjustable steel cables that allow the drop to be set during installation, typically 600-800mm above a table surface or 700-900mm above a kitchen worktop depending on ceiling height. The IP20 rating limits the Vail to dry indoor locations only.
The combination of matt white metal and opal glass gives the pendant a clean profile that pairs with mid-century, Scandinavian and contemporary interiors without dominating the space. The 52cm width and 230mm height create a low-profile drum silhouette that works in rooms with lower ceilings where taller pendants would intrude visually. The acid-etched finish on the glass hides dust and fingerprints better than clear or polished glass.
The pendant is dimmable when paired with dimmable E27 LED bulbs and a compatible trailing-edge dimmer (bulbs and dimmer sold separately). The three-bulb configuration allows for a total light output of 30-45W equivalent when fitted with typical 10-15W warm-white LEDs, providing sufficient task light for dining and food preparation without over-lighting smaller rooms.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does the Vail take and are they included?
The Vail takes three E27 (Edison screw) bulbs, sold separately. Most users pair this with warm-white LED bulbs between 10-15W and 2700K-3000K for dining and kitchen use, giving a combined output equivalent to 30-45W of traditional incandescent light.
Is it dimmable?
Yes, when fitted with dimmable E27 LED bulbs and paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer. The pendant itself has no onboard dimming electronics, so dimmer compatibility depends on the specific bulbs chosen.
What drop height should I install it at?
For dining tables, 700-800mm above the table surface works in most rooms. For kitchen islands or worktops, 800-900mm above the surface provides task light without blocking sightlines. The steel cables are adjustable during installation to suit your ceiling height.
Can it be used in bathrooms?
No. The IP20 rating limits the Vail to dry indoor locations only. It is not rated for bathroom zones or any location where it may be exposed to moisture or steam.
