The Urban is a 510mm square LED flush ceiling light built around a black metal frame with an integrated grid diffuser and remote-controlled colour temperature adjustment. The 80W LED module delivers 5200 lumens through a 140-degree beam spread, with the grid pattern breaking up the light plane into a geometric matrix that diffuses the output evenly across the room.

Designed for rooms with 2.4-2.7m ceilings where a semi-recessed fitting cannot be installed, the Urban sits 91mm proud of the ceiling and provides enough output to serve as the primary light source in living rooms, open-plan kitchen-diners, home offices and bedrooms up to approximately 25-30 square metres. The remote control adjusts both brightness and colour temperature from 2700K warm white through to 5000K cool white, allowing the light to shift from relaxed evening ambience to focused daytime working light.

The black powder-coated metal frame gives the fitting a defined architectural edge that works well in industrial-inspired interiors, monochrome schemes and contemporary spaces with exposed metalwork or dark accent furniture. The grid diffuser adds visual texture when the light is off and prevents direct glare when lit, making the fitting comfortable to have in your eyeline when seated. At 2.5kg the fitting requires secure fixing into a ceiling joist or onto a spreader plate across multiple joists.

The 140-degree beam angle spreads output across a wide area rather than casting a narrow pool, which suits general room lighting from a single central point. The remote lets you adjust the light from a seated position without reaching the fitting.

How is the colour temperature adjusted?

The Urban includes a remote control that adjusts both dimming and colour temperature. The LED can be set anywhere between 2700K warm white and 5000K cool white, with smooth transitions between temperatures. The remote uses infrared, so it requires line-of-sight to the fitting.

What room size does 5200 lumens cover?

At 5200 lumens the Urban provides enough output to serve as the primary ceiling light in a room up to approximately 25-30 square metres, depending on ceiling height, wall colour and the amount of task lighting needed. For larger spaces or higher ceilings consider pairing two fittings or adding supplementary lighting.

Does it require a special mounting plate?

At 2.5kg the fitting is heavier than most flush lights and must be fixed securely. If your ceiling rose is not screwed directly into a joist, a spreader plate across multiple joists or into solid ceiling substrate is required. Standard plasterboard fixings are not sufficient.

Can the grid diffuser be cleaned?

Yes. The grid diffuser can be wiped with a soft dry microfibre cloth when the fitting is switched off and cool. For stubborn marks use a barely-damp cloth with plain water. Avoid chemical sprays or abrasive cleaners that might damage the black finish.
