Description

This is one of the larger lights in the Urano range: a round black bay fitting with the LED and its driver built in. It draws 200W and throws a wide, even wash of 5000K white light, the crisp end of the scale rather than anything warm. Output is 30,000 lumens, which puts it well beyond what a domestic pendant is ever asked to do. There is no dimming, so it runs at full brightness whenever it is switched on.

We reach for this one where ceilings are high and the floor below needs to be genuinely bright: workshops, garages, warehousing, packing and assembly areas, gyms, agricultural buildings and covered yards. The broad spread suits open floors where light has to carry into the corners rather than pool beneath each fitting. Because it is sealed against dust and water, it also copes with washdown bays, damp stores and rooms where the air carries sawdust or grain. Anyone lighting a big space from a handful of points will find one of these does the work of several smaller fittings.

The finish is black across the whole body, which keeps it quiet against dark steelwork and painted soffits, and it needs an earthed supply. Keeping the light face clean matters more here than on most fittings, since grime robs you of output faster than anything else: with the power off and the fitting cold, lift dust and cobwebs away with a dry brush, then shift any greasy film with a barely damp cloth and dry it.
