Big output from a compact round body: this is a UFO-pattern bay downlight in black, 26cm across, with a 150W integrated LED behind a narrow lens. The beam is tight rather than broad, so light travels down in a concentrated column instead of washing outwards, which is what you want when the roof sits a long way above the floor. The white is a crisp 5000K daylight, clean and slightly blue against warmer domestic lighting, and it runs at a fixed level rather than dimming. The driver sits inside the unit.

We would use this over a workshop bench, in a garage, along a warehouse aisle or above a loading area, anywhere the roof is high and the work below needs clear light with few shadows. It is sealed against dust and water jets, so it copes with unheated, damp and dirty spaces where a softer fitting would give up. Because the beam is narrow, each unit throws further and covers a tighter patch of floor, which suits aisles, racking runs and task zones better than broad open areas.

The housing is finished in black, with the driver contained in the same body and the LED array permanently fitted, so there is nothing to swap at lamp level. Cleaning matters more here than on most fittings: kill the power, give it time to cool, then lift dust from the lens with a dry cloth, because a grey film quietly costs you light. It carries a three year warranty. How wide is the beam?

It is a 60 degree beam, which is the narrowest spread in this range. It concentrates light downwards and is the one to choose for higher roofs or where you want light on aisles rather than spilled across everything.

Can it be dimmed?

No. It runs at full output only, so it should not be wired to a dimmer or a trailing edge control.

What colour is the light?

5000K, a natural daylight white. If you want something a little warmer for the same body and output class, we stock the 4000K version.

What size and weight is it?

260mm in diameter, 178mm high and 2.5kg.

Is it suitable for a damp or dusty building?

Yes. It is rated IP65, sealed against dust ingress and low pressure water jets, which covers wash-down areas, unheated stores and agricultural buildings.
