Description
The Unter den Linden is a 330mm outdoor wall light built from grooved aluminium with a black powder-coated finish, housing two E27 bulb fittings behind clear polycarbonate diffusers. The vertical rectangular body has four transparent diffuser bands positioned at the top, middle-top, middle-bottom and bottom, casting light upward and downward along the wall surface and outward through the clear sections.
Designed for UK exterior walls, porch entries, garden paths and patio perimeters, the fitting carries an IP54 rating which protects the internal components against dust ingress and splashing water from any direction. Silicone gaskets seal the diffuser bands to the aluminium body, and the back plate mounts directly to a standard outdoor junction box. The twin E27 fittings accept standard LED, halogen or filament bulbs up to 60W each (sold separately), allowing control over light temperature and output.
The grooved aluminium construction resists corrosion in coastal and wet climates, and the black finish sits comfortably against brick, render, timber cladding and painted masonry without reflecting harsh daylight. The 110mm width and 100mm projection from the wall give the fitting visible presence on larger exterior walls while remaining proportional on smaller porch areas. Each Unter den Linden weighs approximately 1.2kg when fitted with bulbs, requiring secure fixing to solid masonry or timber studs.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Unter den Linden takes two E27 (Edison screw) bulbs up to 60W each. Bulbs are sold separately. Most installations use warm-white LED bulbs at 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for outdoor ambient lighting.
Is it suitable for coastal areas?
Yes. The aluminium body is corrosion-resistant and the IP54 rating protects against salt spray and rain. The silicone gaskets around the diffuser bands seal out moisture. Regular rinsing with fresh water extends the life of the powder-coat finish in coastal climates.
Can it be installed on timber cladding?
Yes, provided the timber is structurally sound and the fixing screws reach the timber studs or noggins behind the cladding. The back plate is pre-drilled with standard fixing holes and requires a weatherproof outdoor junction box behind.
Does it need to be wired to a switch or can it run on a sensor?
The fitting itself has no built-in switch or sensor. It can be wired to an indoor wall switch, an outdoor switch, a PIR motion sensor, or a timer circuit depending on how the junction box is wired. The product manual provides the wiring diagram for mains connection.
