Description

The Unity middle feed connector delivers mains power to a track lighting system at a mid-point rather than at the track end, allowing longer runs and more complex layouts without power drop. The connector plugs into the track rail and connects to incoming mains via its internal terminals, feeding 220-240V AC into the track from the centre outward.

Designed for track lighting installations longer than 2m or configured in L-shaped, T-shaped or parallel runs, the middle feed avoids the need to run power to the furthest end of the track. The white aluminium body integrates with white Unity track rails and ceiling plates, keeping the feed point visually consistent with the rest of the system. The connector is rated IP20 for indoor dry locations only and suits residential, retail, gallery and office installations where track layouts exceed simple straight runs.

The connector measures 142mm long by 34mm wide with a 19.5mm profile above the track rail once installed. It clips into the track via the same mechanism as Unity spotlights and other connectors, locking into place without tools. Electrical connection is made via screw terminals inside the body, which accept standard UK mains cable. The aluminium construction provides durability and helps dissipate heat from the live connection.

When would I use a middle feed connector instead of an end feed?

A middle feed connector is used when the track run exceeds 2m, when the layout forms an L-shape or T-shape, or when the most convenient mains access point is in the middle of the track rather than at either end. It allows power to distribute outward in both directions, reducing voltage drop and simplifying wiring in complex layouts.

Is this connector compatible with all Unity track rails?

The connector is designed for Maytoni Unity single-phase track systems. It clips into Unity track rails using the same locking mechanism as Unity spotlights and other accessories. It is not compatible with three-phase track or track systems from other manufacturers.

Can this be installed by a homeowner?

Electrical connection to mains must be carried out by a qualified electrician in compliance with UK wiring regulations. The connector clips into the track mechanically without tools, but the internal screw terminals must be wired to incoming mains cable, which requires competence and Part P compliance.

What's the maximum track length this connector can feed?

Maximum track length depends on the combined wattage of all spotlights on the run. Maytoni Unity track systems typically support up to 1000W per circuit, but consult the full system documentation or a qualified electrician for the specific installation.
