The Ueda is a decorative bowl made from black metal wire, shaped into an open geometric frame. Its many-sided rim sits above sides built from interlocking triangles, and the frame narrows to a flat, solid base, so the bowl stands steady and anything placed inside has a firm floor beneath it. It measures 25cm across and 13cm high, a useful middle size that holds a generous handful of things without crowding a table. The black finish is even and plain, which lets the lines of the wire do the talking.

This is an indoor piece, at home on a kitchen worktop, a dining table, a sideboard or a hall console. Lemons, apples and oranges look good against the black wire, and because the sides are open you can see at a glance what is left in the bowl.
