Description
This resin figurine shows two horse heads rising together from a single base, painted by hand in a warm brown wood-grain effect. The taller horse looks straight ahead with its ears pricked, while the second turns its head to the side in profile below, and both manes sweep back in long, windswept locks that flow down into the base. The grain lines follow the curve of each neck and face, so the brown deepens in the folds of the manes and lightens across the cheeks and muzzles, with a small patch of green at the foot that reads like moss. It stands 17.9cm tall, 13.2cm wide and 7.3cm deep, a size that sits comfortably on a shelf without crowding it.
Because it stands freely on its own base, it needs no wall or fixing and can go wherever you have a clear, flat surface: a mantelpiece, a bookcase, a hall table, a windowsill or the corner of a desk. The warm brown sits easily beside natural textures such as linen, rattan and stone, and next to plants or a row of books it brings a gentle country note to a room. Because the lower horse turns to the side, we like to set the figurine towards the left end of a shelf, so that the turned head looks along it into the space.
The figurine is made of resin, which holds fine detail such as the separate locks of each mane and the dark eyes, and the wood-grain effect is painted on by hand. To keep it looking its best, dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth, and if it needs more, wipe it gently with a barely damp cloth and dry it straight away. As a gift, its compact size makes it easy to wrap, and the two horses together bring a lot of character to a small corner of a shelf.
