Description

The Turin is a downward-facing outdoor wall lantern with a black powder-coated die-cast aluminium frame and clear glass panels, housing a single E27 bulb up to 60W (sold separately). The IP54 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water splashing from any direction, making it suitable for UK porches, doorways, garage entrances and covered walkways.

The lantern mounts on a decorative scroll bracket that projects 330mm from the wall, positioning the light 200-300mm forward of the building face to illuminate the area directly below and in front of the fitting. The downward orientation focuses light onto paths, steps and door thresholds rather than spilling upwards, which suits areas where directed task light is more useful than ambient wash. The 420mm height gives the lantern presence on a standard two-storey house elevation without overwhelming smaller single-storey porches.

The traditional four-sided lantern form with ball finial top and base works across Victorian terrace, Edwardian semi, 1930s suburban and contemporary brick builds. The black powder coat is applied over die-cast aluminium rather than pressed steel, giving better corrosion resistance in coastal and high-humidity locations. Norlys backs the fitting with a 5-year warranty with no coastal exclusions, reflecting confidence in the material specification.

Frequently Asked

What does the IP54 rating mean?

IP54 means the lantern is protected against dust ingress (the 5) and water splashing from any direction (the 4). It can be used in exposed outdoor locations including coastal areas, but should not be submerged or pressure-washed directly.

What bulb should I use?

The lantern takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Most users fit a 6-10W LED bulb in warm white (2700K-3000K) for porch and doorway lighting. Bulbs are sold separately.

How far does it project from the wall?

The scroll bracket projects 330mm from the wall face to the centre of the lantern body. This forward position helps light the area directly in front of the door rather than just the wall itself.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

Yes. The die-cast aluminium construction and powder coat finish are designed for coastal exposure, and Norlys provides a 5-year warranty with no coastal exclusions.
