Description
The Truman is a single-light wall bracket from Hinkley with an etched opal glass shade held on a curved metal arm extending from an antique nickel backplate. The backplate measures 133mm wide with a raised central section flanked by two arched supports, each with visible fixing screws. A turned metal finial secures the base of the glass shade to the E27 socket holder.
Designed for hallways, bedroom walls flanking a headboard, and bathroom zones outside the IP-rated areas, the Truman projects 197mm from the wall and sits 325mm high. The curved support arm angles the shade slightly upward, casting light both onto the wall behind and into the room. When fitted in pairs either side of a mirror or headboard, the fittings create balanced lighting without requiring overhead pendants or downlights.
The antique nickel finish on the metalwork provides a brushed, lightly aged appearance that sits between polished chrome and aged brass on the spectrum, pairing with both warm and cool-toned interiors. The etched opal glass is translucent rather than clear, softening the light output from whatever E27 bulb is fitted. The glass shade measures approximately 120mm high and tapers from 100mm diameter at the top to 70mm at the base where it meets the metal finial.
The backplate fixes to a standard wall box or solid wall with two screws through the raised central section. The E27 socket accepts any standard Edison screw bulb up to 60W, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament styles depending on the colour temperature and light output needed. Bulbs are sold separately.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does the Truman take?
The fitting takes a standard E27 Edison screw bulb up to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K for ambient room lighting.
Can this be used in bathrooms?
The Truman carries no IP rating, so it must be installed outside the defined bathroom zones (typically zones 0, 1, and 2). This means positioning the wall light more than 600mm from a bath or shower enclosure and away from direct spray. Check current UK wiring regulations (BS 7671) before installing in a bathroom.
How is the glass shade fitted?
The etched opal glass shade sits over the E27 socket and is held in place by a turned metal finial that screws onto the base of the socket holder. To change a bulb, unscrew the finial, lift off the glass shade, replace the bulb, then reassemble.
