Trimasi Downlight 73mm Cut-Out 82mm Dia - Sand Black

Sand black and deliberately plain, this is the housing half of the Trimasi system. It sets into the ceiling and holds a Trimasi spotlight module, so the light itself can be chosen, aimed and later swapped without the surround changing. The trim is slim and the finish is a fine sandy matt rather than a gloss, so the edge of the aperture reads as a dark line instead of a bright one. The base is non-electrical; the working parts arrive with the spotlight you pair it with.

Sized for a 73mm cut-out and 82mm across the face, it sits at the small end of the downlight world, which is what makes it useful in kitchens, hallways, landings and bedrooms where several larger fittings in a row would start to look heavy. We reach for it when a customer wants the ceiling to stay quiet and the light to do the talking, and the black helps with that: against a pale ceiling it reads as a neat dot rather than a ring of metal. We would keep it to dry rooms indoors and choose something rated for wet zones over a bath or shower.

The finish is consistent and low in sheen, with no polished edges to catch the eye at ceiling level. Cleaning asks for very little: a dry cloth over the visible ring is enough, and household sprays or solvents are best kept away, since they take the bloom off a sand finish.
