Description

Our Trilbine linear pendant hangs four smoked glass shades from one black steel ceiling bar, each shade held on a pair of fine cords. The shades are rounded, softly flattened globes in vaporised glass with a black-transparent tint, so they read almost like dark mirrors when unlit and show a warm glow through the glass once the LEDs are lit. The light is 126cm long and 21cm wide, with an overall height of 150cm. The light source is integrated LED, four lights at 5.8W each, built into the shades so there is no bulb to fit. It is rated IP20, which settles where it goes: indoors, in a dry room.

Its length is the point: four pools of light spaced along a single bar cover a long dining table more evenly than one pendant can. It works just as well over a breakfast bar, a long desk in a home office, or the dining end of an open-plan living room. Each light gives 690lm at 3000K, a warm white that sits kindly on wood, food and faces. The pendant is dimmable, so the same light can be bright for homework and low for a late supper. The smoked glass and black bar suit a darker, moodier scheme, yet they look just as settled against pale walls and oak.

The ceiling bar is steel in a black finish, with each shade hung on twin cords. There is no switch on the light itself; it is switched at the wall, and as a mains light wired into the ceiling it is installed by a qualified electrician.
