Description
This miniature glass figurine takes the shape of a triceratops, caught mid stride with its head lowered and its three black horns pointing forward. The body is translucent orange glass, richer along the back and lighter towards the tip of the tail, with a soft cream stripe running beneath the belly. Around its head sits a broad frill edged in glossy black and dotted with white spots, with round eyes set on either side. It stands 4cm tall, 7.5cm long and 2.5cm deep, small enough to sit in the palm of your hand.
Because it is so small, it suits a spot where it can be admired up close: a bookshelf, a desk, a bedside table or a glass cabinet among other little treasures. On a sunny windowsill the light shines through the orange glass and gives the whole figure a warm glow, which is where we think it looks its best. If you collect small glass animals, or simply have a soft spot for dinosaurs, it adds a cheerful prehistoric character to the line-up. It also makes a charming small gift, easy to wrap and small enough to tuck into a gift bag.
The figurine is made of glass throughout, with black detail on the horns, beak and frill and white spots around the frill's edge. It stands on its own four feet, so it needs no stand or fixing, though a flat, level surface is ideal. As with any small glass ornament, handle it gently and keep it back from the edge of a shelf. To keep it bright, dust it with a soft dry cloth, or wipe it with a slightly damp cloth and dry it straight away. We like it best grouped with a few houseplants or perched on a stack of favourite books, where it brings a playful spark to the room.
