Description

The Tramena is a compact square wall light that sends light both up and down the wall from one slim body. Two white steel blocks are parted by a chrome band, and the whole light sits on a chrome wall plate. It stands 17cm tall, measures 5.5cm across and comes 8.5cm out from the wall, so it keeps a low profile even in a narrow hallway. Two GU10 lights of 2.8W each give 250lm apiece, one shining upward and one downward. With an IP20 rating it belongs indoors in dry rooms, so it is not one for a bathroom or an outside wall.

Because it washes light in two directions, a pair either side of a mirror, a console table or a doorway frames the space with matching beams. It suits hallways, landings, living rooms and bedrooms, wherever you want soft light on the wall rather than a bright overhead glare. The white body sits quietly against pale walls, while the chrome band catches the light and gives the square shape a crisp line. We like it as a pair in a hallway, where the up and down glow gives a plain wall real depth and a friendly welcome after dark.

The body is steel, a strong and rigid metal, finished in white with chrome detailing. There is no switch on the light itself: it is switched at the wall, so it works from the light switch in the room. It runs on mains power at 220-240V, 50/60Hz, and as a wired-in mains light it is installed by a qualified electrician. Packed, it weighs 0.919KG, and the installation instructions come as a download. GU10 is a widely used push-and-twist bulb cap, so replacement bulbs are easy to find.
