Description

The Torsten is a compact outdoor wall light with a cube-shaped aluminium frame finished in graphite grey, enclosing a frosted polycarbonate lens on five sides. The fitting takes a single E27 bulb (sold separately) and casts diffused light through the polycarbonate, turning the cube itself into a glowing box rather than projecting a beam.

Designed for external wall mounting at entrances, porches, garage sides and courtyard boundaries, the Torsten provides ambient marker lighting rather than high-output security illumination. The IP44 rating protects the internal components against solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction, making it suitable for year-round outdoor installation in UK weather conditions. The frosted polycarbonate eliminates harsh glare and prevents direct bulb visibility, giving a soft wash of light against the mounting surface.

The aluminium construction resists corrosion and UV degradation better than painted steel, and the graphite powder-coat finish hides minor scratches and weathering over time. The cube measures approximately 150mm across each face, giving it enough presence to be visible on a rendered or brick wall without dominating the facade. The minimalist frame design pairs with both contemporary rendered finishes and traditional masonry without stylistic clash.

Can it be mounted on brick or rendered walls?

Yes. The fitting mounts via a standard back plate with screw fixings. Use appropriate wall plugs for brick, block or rendered surfaces. Ensure the external cable entry is sealed with outdoor-rated glands or grommets to maintain the IP44 protection.

Does the polycarbonate lens discolour over time?

Polycarbonate is more UV-resistant than acrylic and less prone to yellowing. The frosted finish also hides minor discolouration better than clear lenses. Cleaning the lens occasionally with soapy water helps maintain clarity.
