Description
The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 5ft (1563mm) non-corrosive batten fitting delivering 7,300lm from a 50W integrated SMD LED, with DALI dimming control and selectable colour temperature switching between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K. The polycarbonate housing carries an IP65 weatherproof rating and IK08 impact rating, with stainless steel diffuser clips securing an opal polycarbonate diffuser that distributes light across a 140-degree beam angle.
Designed for commercial and industrial applications including warehouses, loading bays, car parks, external walkways, cold stores and food production environments, the Torlan pairs corrosion resistance with DALI compatibility for integration into addressable lighting control systems. The fitting can be surface-mounted directly to ceilings or walls, or installed via BESA box or suspension accessories (sold separately). The colour temperature is selected via an internal switch on installation, allowing the same fitting to be deployed across different zones requiring warm white, neutral white or cool daylight output.
The polycarbonate construction resists corrosion in damp, coastal and chemically aggressive environments where metal housings would degrade. The IP65 rating protects internal components from water jets and dust ingress, making the fitting suitable for external use under canopies or internal use in washdown areas. The IK08 impact rating provides protection against impacts up to 5 joules, equivalent to a 1.7kg mass dropped from 295mm — sufficient for most industrial environments where accidental contact with equipment or materials occurs.
The DALI control protocol allows each fitting to be individually addressed and dimmed from a DALI lighting controller, giving zone-level dimming control without additional wiring beyond the standard DALI bus connection. The 146.3lm/W efficacy and selectable wattage design (via the CDA model's internal switches) provide flexibility to optimise energy consumption against light output requirements on a per-installation basis. The 60,000-hour L70B50 rating indicates that 50% of a batch will maintain at least 70% of initial light output after 60,000 hours of operation.

Frequently Asked
What does DALI control allow?
DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) allows each fitting to be individually addressed and dimmed from a compatible DALI controller. This gives zone-level dimming control without additional wiring beyond the standard DALI bus connection. The fitting requires a DALI-compatible control system to enable dimming — it cannot be dimmed via a standard wall dimmer.
How is the colour temperature selected?
The CCT is selected via an internal switch accessible when the diffuser is removed during installation. The fitting can be set to 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white) or 5700K (cool daylight). Once set, the colour temperature remains fixed until the switch is manually changed.
What mounting options are available?
The batten can be surface-mounted directly to ceilings or walls using the pre-drilled mounting points in the housing. BESA box mounting and suspension mounting accessories are available separately for installations requiring conduit entry or pendant mounting from structural ceilings.
Is the fitting suitable for outdoor use?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects the fitting from water jets and dust, making it suitable for external use under canopies, in loading bays, car park covered areas and other semi-exposed locations. The polycarbonate construction resists corrosion in coastal and damp environments where metal housings would degrade over time.
