Description

Eight pendants, one tidy plate. This is the piece that pulls a group of separate hanging lights into a single arrangement, gathering their flexes at one point overhead rather than spreading them across the ceiling. The rectangle measures 500 x 300mm, which gives the drops room to sit apart without crowding one another, and the body is shallow so the plate stays quiet above the lights it carries. It is black right across, which keeps it reading as part of the flexes rather than as a separate object.

We would use it over a long kitchen island, above a dining table, or down a wide hallway, where a cluster of small pendants at staggered heights does more for a room than one central fitting. It suits anyone putting a scheme together from individual pendants and wanting the finished result to look deliberate. Because it is not an electrical fitting in itself, lamp choice and colour temperature follow whatever you hang beneath it, and it works as happily with a matched set as with a mix of shades.

The plate is rigid, with openings for the flexes to pass through and a slim profile that holds everything close overhead. An occasional pass with a dry cloth along the length of the plate is all the upkeep it asks for; polishes and solvents are best kept away from the black finish. It carries a one year warranty. We stock this same black canopy as a round plate and in other rectangular sizes, from a narrow strip for a short run to a broader plate for larger groups, so a scheme can be widened or drawn in without changing the look. Pendants are bought separately.
