Description

The Tonic is a 98mm diameter glass pendant light with a bronze metallic cylinder shade and matt black canopy, housing a single GX53 12W LED rated at 3000K warm white. The bronze glass cylinder reflects and filters the downlight, creating a warmer tone than the raw LED output and adding a metallic accent to the space below.

Designed for kitchen islands, breakfast bars and dining tables where focused task light is needed in a compact footprint, the Tonic pendant works individually over a small round table or in multiples spaced 600-900mm apart along a longer island. The adjustable cable drop ranges from 480mm to 2000mm, allowing the pendant to be set 600-750mm above a worktop depending on ceiling height. The GX53 lamp is dimmable when paired with a compatible trailing-edge or smart dimmer.

The bronze finish on the glass cylinder shifts in tone depending on the viewing angle and ambient light, appearing darker bronze in shadow and brighter copper-bronze when backlit or viewed against pale backgrounds. The black ceiling canopy measures approximately 100mm diameter and fits standard UK ceiling roses. The combined weight of 1.05kg including lamp requires no additional ceiling support beyond the standard rose fixing.

Spacing pendants 600-900mm apart along an island keeps each pool of light distinct while giving even coverage across the surface. The 3000K warm white output sits firmly in the warm range, suiting kitchens and dining spaces. Set 600-750mm above a worktop, the pendant lights the surface without dazzling anyone seated nearby, and the 480mm minimum drop keeps it clear in lower rooms.

Is the LED bulb included?

Yes. The GX53 LED lamp is sold separately. The 12W 3000K figure is the recommended lamp, which is why the specification lists power consumption as dependent on the lamp used.

What dimmer is compatible?

The GX53 LED is dimmable when paired with a trailing-edge or smart dimmer rated for LED loads. Leading-edge dimmers designed for halogen or incandescent lamps may cause flicker or buzzing and are not recommended.

How many pendants are needed for a kitchen island?

For a typical 1800-2400mm island, two Tonic pendants spaced 600-900mm apart provide balanced task light. Smaller islands or breakfast bars may only need one. Longer islands may benefit from three pendants.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

Yes. The cable can be shortened or lengthened during installation by feeding more or less cable through the ceiling canopy. Once the canopy is fixed to the ceiling rose, further adjustment requires removing the canopy to access the cable grip.
