Description

The Tomessa is a compact LED wall light: a rectangular aluminium box in a satin nickel finish, with softly rounded side edges and a white interior. It measures 20cm long, 8cm high and 9cm deep, so it sits close to the wall without crowding a hallway or landing. The integrated LEDs draw 10W and give 1,300 lumens at 3000K, a warm light that suits living spaces. Light leaves through the open top and bottom, washing the wall in two directions. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms only.

We see it working hardest in hallways, on landings and either side of a bed or a fireplace, where a pair of matching lights frames the space. Because the light is cast upwards and downwards rather than straight into the room, you get a soft glow on the wall with no bare LED in your eyeline. That makes it a good choice for a living room or a bedroom where you want gentle background light. The satin nickel sits comfortably beside grey, white and darker painted walls, and its plain shape suits a modern or a simple traditional scheme.

The body is aluminium, which does not rust, finished in satin nickel with a fine brushed grain running along its length. There is no switch on the light itself. It is switched at the wall, and as it is not dimmable it belongs on an ordinary switch rather than a dimmer. It runs on 220-240V mains and, as a wired-in fitting, is installed by a qualified electrician. The integrated LEDs mean there is no bulb to buy or change. Packed, it weighs 0.86KG, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download, so whoever fits it can read them first.
