Description

A storage basket, 50cm wide, in grey. At 50cm wide it is a little narrower than a standard interior door. Baskets work in multiples more than singly. Two or three of graduated size read as a scheme where a single one reads as an afterthought, and a nested set solves the problem of what to do with them when they are empty.

Cool tones settle beside grey, blue and black without any effort. Against a warm timber they need something to mediate, or the two simply sit next to each other. Rattan is a climbing palm, steamed and bent rather than cut and joined, which is why the curves are continuous and the whole piece weighs so little. Every length differs slightly in colour, so no two pieces match exactly.

Handles matter far more than they look. A basket without them cannot be moved when it is full, which is exactly the moment you want to move it, and a handle that is woven in outlasts one that is stitched on.

It needs nothing beyond dusting, and a damp cloth on the finish rather than anything solvent.
