Description

The Tilston is a single wall spotlight in a muted matt green, made from steel. A round wall plate carries a short arm and a cylindrical shade. The shade sits on a pivot, so you can angle the light exactly where you need it. It is 12cm long and 15.5cm tall, and it projects 12cm from the wall, so it stays neat in a hallway or beside a bed. It takes one E14 bulb up to a maximum of 40W. The bulb is not included, which leaves the choice of warm or cool light with you. It is rated IP20, which means it belongs indoors in dry rooms.

Because the shade angles, one fitting can do two jobs. Point it at a picture or a shelf of books, or tip it towards a chair for reading. A pair either side of a bed gives each sleeper their own light, and over a desk it puts light on the work rather than in your eyes. The green is soft and greyed rather than bright. It sits comfortably with natural wood, white walls, linen and plants, and it suits a living room, bedroom, study or landing that wants a little colour without shouting.

The body is steel, with the same matt green across the wall plate, arm and shade, so the colour reads evenly from every angle. There is no switch on the fitting itself. It is switched at the wall, which keeps the lines clean. It runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains and should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. Packed, it weighs 0.725KG. With the light switched off and the bulb cool, wipe the shade and plate with a soft, dry cloth; abrasive cleaners can dull a matt surface.
