Description

The Tilston is a two light spotlight bar for the ceiling, made from steel and finished in a soft, matt sand colour. Two cylindrical shades with rounded backs hang from short stems on a slim bar with rounded ends, and each shade can be angled on its own. The light is 28cm long, 8cm wide and 20.5cm high, a compact size that keeps it neat on the ceiling. It takes two E14 bulbs, up to 40W each, and the bulbs are not included. With an IP20 rating it is made for dry rooms indoors.

Because each shade points its own way, one spotlight bar can do two jobs. One head can wash light across a wall of shelves or artwork while the other lights a reading chair or a desk. We think it is a good choice for a living room, a bedroom, a study, a hallway or a landing, anywhere a single central bulb leaves the corners dull. The sand finish is a warm, neutral colour that sits comfortably beside natural wood, cream walls and soft greens, and it looks calmer on a pale ceiling than bright white or black metal would.

The light is made of steel, and the inside of each shade carries the same sand colour, so the finish looks considered from below as well as from the side. There is no switch on the light itself; it is controlled from your wall switch, and it runs on 220-240V, 50/60Hz mains. As a wired-in mains light, it should be installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a PDF download. Choosing your own E14 bulbs lets you pick the warmth and brightness that suit the room, within the 40W maximum for each. Packed, it weighs 1.262KG. Do remember to order two E14 bulbs with it, as none come in the box.
