Tilling 1 Light Wall Light - Antique Gold

The Tilling is a 778mm wall light built around a double-ended antique gold metal frame with a central white linen drum shade. The frame extends both above and below the shade in a symmetrical configuration, giving the fitting its vertical presence on the wall. A single E27 bulb (sold separately) sits behind the linen, casting diffused light both forward into the room and up-and-down through the fabric weave.

Designed for hallways, stairwells, living room alcoves and dining room feature walls where vertical scale matters, the Tilling works best on walls with 2.4m or higher ceiling heights where the 778mm drop can register without overwhelming the proportions of the room. The 117mm projection from the wall keeps the fitting clear of high-traffic zones while maintaining enough stand-off to direct light forward rather than directly onto the wall surface.

The antique gold finish has a warmer, slightly aged tone compared to polished or brushed brass, with visible texture and tonal variation across the metal surface that suits traditional, classical and transitional interiors. The white linen shade provides a textured surface that breaks up the light output and hides the bulb inside, so the fitting works with clear filament bulbs or standard LED without glare. At 292mm wide and 778mm tall, the Tilling carries enough visual weight to anchor a wall section but fits comfortably on walls as narrow as 800-900mm.

What bulb does the Tilling take?

The fitting takes a standard E27 (Edison screw) bulb up to 60W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a warm-white LED between 6-10W and 2700K-3000K, or a decorative filament bulb where the linen shade provides enough diffusion to soften the visible filament.

How is the light distributed?

The white linen shade diffuses light both forward into the room and up-and-down through the open top and bottom of the drum. The double-ended frame redirects some light onto the wall above and below the fitting, creating a wash effect rather than a concentrated spot.

What wall height is needed?

The 778mm fitting height works best on walls with 2.4m or higher ceilings, typically mounted at 1.6-1.8m from floor level in a hallway or living room. On lower ceilings the fitting can appear oversized unless mounted in a double-height stairwell or entrance hall.

Can the shade be cleaned?

The white linen shade can be dusted with a soft brush or vacuum attachment on low power. For more stubborn marks, spot-clean with a barely-damp cloth and allow to air-dry fully before switching the light back on. Do not soak or machine-wash the shade.
