Description

The Monkey Sitting Table Lamp is a sculptural resin lamp cast in the form of a seated monkey holding a single E27 bulb fitting in its raised hand. The figure stands 42cm tall with a 34cm footprint, finished in a uniform matt white that picks out the textured fur, facial detail and curled tail moulded into the resin. A fabric-covered cable runs from the bulb holder along the figure's arm and out to the mains plug.

Designed for side tables, console tables, sideboards and bedside positions, the lamp works as a decorative accent as much as a light source. The bulb sits exposed in the monkey's hand, so a clear or frosted E27 GLS filament bulb (sold separately) is the intended pairing — both throw warm light across the figure and the surface beneath. The matt white finish suits eclectic, contemporary and Scandinavian-leaning interiors.

Resin construction allows the original sculpt to be reproduced with sharp detail across the face, hands, feet and tail without the weight of cast plaster or stone. The seated pose places the bulb at roughly hand-height when the lamp is set on a 45cm-high side table, putting the light at a useful level for ambient reading rather than direct task work. The curled tail wraps around to the rear of the base and is moulded as part of the body rather than fitted as a separate piece.

What bulb does it take?

The lamp takes a single E27 (Edison screw) bulb, sold separately. Because the bulb sits exposed in the monkey's hand, a decorative E27 GLS filament or globe bulb is the intended pairing rather than a hidden utility bulb.

Is it suitable for outdoor use?

No. This is the indoor version, finished in standard resin without an outdoor IP rating. It should be used in covered, dry interior locations only.

How heavy is it and will it tip?

The seated pose places the centre of gravity low and over the 34cm footprint of the body, legs and curled tail, giving the lamp a stable stance on a flat side table or sideboard. The fabric cable exits to the side rather than pulling on the bulb arm.

How is it cleaned?

Dust gently with a dry, soft brush or microfibre cloth, paying attention to the textured fur detail where dust can settle. Avoid abrasive cloths and household chemical sprays, which can dull the matt white resin finish over time.
