Description

This resin snow globe holds a small cassette tape labelled "I am Groot", wound about with pale green tendrils as though the cassette has started to sprout. Give it a shake and a flurry of green glitter, cut into tiny leaf shapes, swirls around the tape before slowly settling again. The base is a deep olive green worked with a brown bark and root texture, with I AM GROOT in large letters across the front and a young Groot peeping round the side, his little hands folded in front of him. It stands 10.5cm tall and 8.2cm across, a size that sits comfortably in one hand.

At this size it is happiest on a desk, a bookshelf or a bedside table, close enough to pick up and shake between tasks or at the end of the day. The green and brown colouring sits easily with wood, books and houseplants, while the yellow cassette label adds a bright spot among darker things on a shelf. It makes a cheerful gift that raises a smile the moment it is shaken, and it is every bit as good kept on your own desk.

Made in resin, it holds fine detail well, so the bark lines, the lettering and the twisting tendrils around the cassette all read clearly up close. Lift it by the base, not the globe, and give it a gentle tip and turn rather than a hard shake to set the glitter going. To keep it looking its best, dust the globe and base with a soft dry cloth, and wipe away any fingerprints on the globe with a lightly damp cloth before drying it. We like it at the end of a row of books or beside a pot of trailing ivy, where the leafy glitter and bark-textured base carry the green theme right along the shelf.
