Description

Two opal tubular glass shades sit end to end on a slim satin black backplate, giving a low, level band of light rather than a hot spot. The glass is closed all round, so what reaches the room is soft and even along the whole length. It measures 40cm across and projects very little, which keeps it clear of a mirror edge or a door architrave. Each holder takes an E14 candle lamp, and the fitting will dim where dimmable lamps are fitted. There is no switch on the body, so it works from the room switch.

Rated against splashing water, it is at home in a bathroom or shower room, sitting above or beside a mirror so the light falls on your face rather than the top of your head. Cloakrooms, en suites and utility rooms suit it just as well, and the shallow depth makes it a sensible pick for a narrow hallway where anything deeper would catch a shoulder. We would choose it over a basin in a small bathroom, where a taller fitting would crowd the space. It can sit on a ceiling too, if that line reads better in the room.

The shades are glass throughout and the metalwork wears a satin black that stays dark and matt in daylight and throws back little glare. For cleaning, a dry cloth keeps the glass clear, and a barely damp one lifts bathroom mist marks from the black; switch off at the wall and let the lamps go cold first. Maximum 40W per lamp, and lamps are not included. It carries a one year warranty. We stock the same twin shape in polished chrome if you would rather have something brighter against dark tiles.
