Description

Two opal white glass tubes sit either side of a polished chrome bar, giving a soft, even wash of light with no hard hot spots. The chrome is bright and reflective, so the fitting reads as a slim horizontal line when the lamps are off. It takes small E14 candle lamps, and we would fit LED candles here to keep running costs sensible. Dimming is possible if you choose dimmable lamps and pair them with a compatible dimmer. At 40cm across it is a comfortable width to sit above a mirror without crowding the glass.

Sealed against splashes, it is one we are happy to put in a bathroom or shower room as well as in dry rooms elsewhere in the house. Above a mirror it gives the even cross light you want for shaving or make-up, without the shadows a single downlight leaves behind. It also suits a hallway, a landing or a cloakroom where a fabric shade would feel out of place. The opal glass is gentle at close quarters, so the fitting can sit near eye level without dazzling anyone standing in front of it.

Construction is straightforward: pressed metal in a polished chrome finish, carrying tubular diffusers in opal white glass. To keep it looking sharp, wipe the chrome with a barely damp cloth and dry it off at once, which stops water marks forming in a steamy room; the glass takes the same treatment happily. It carries a one year warranty. We also stock this design in satin black, and in a single light version if you want something shorter beside a mirror or over a basin. Lamps are not included.
