Tarifa Switched LED Reading Light - Satin Nickel

The Tarifa is a wall-mounted LED reading light with a rectangular satin nickel backplate, a slim adjustable arm and an integrated rocker switch positioned at the front of the backplate for one-handed operation. The fitting houses a 3W 3000K LED behind a 30° beam angle reflector, delivering 210lm of directional warm white light.

Designed for bedside reading positions, armchair corners and desk alcoves where a fixed ceiling light cannot be directed onto reading material, the Tarifa mounts at approximately 1.2-1.4m above floor level in a bedroom or 1.5-1.6m in a living room. The arm adjusts both vertically and horizontally on a friction joint, allowing the beam to be aimed at a pillow, a book held in an armchair, or a desk surface without redirecting ambient room light. The integrated switch eliminates the need to reach for a remote wall switch or cord pull when turning the light on or off from bed.

The satin nickel finish is a brushed metal surface that diffuses reflections and pairs with chrome taps, door furniture and other metal fixtures across contemporary and transitional interiors. The backplate measures 150mm high by 60mm wide with an 80mm projection when the arm is horizontal, making it compact enough to sit between bed headboards and neighbouring furniture. The 3W LED is non-dimmable and non-replaceable, with a rated lifespan typical of integrated LED wall lights in this category. The fitting weighs 0.55kg and mounts to a standard UK wall box or directly to masonry using the supplied fixings.

Is the Tarifa bright enough for reading?

The 3W LED delivers 210lm through a focused 30° beam angle, which concentrates the light onto a small area such as a book, pillow or desk surface. This is sufficient for reading in an otherwise dim or dark room, but not as bright as a 6-10W reading lamp. The warm 3000K colour temperature reduces eye strain during evening reading.

Can the LED be replaced when it fails?

No. The LED is integrated into the fitting and cannot be replaced. Integrated LEDs typically last 15,000-25,000 hours depending on usage patterns. At three hours per evening, this equates to approximately 15-20 years of use before noticeable dimming occurs.

What height should it be mounted at?

For bedside use, mount the backplate approximately 1.2-1.4m above floor level, which places the switch and light head at a comfortable reach from a sitting or lying position. For armchair or desk use, mount at 1.5-1.6m to allow the arm to be angled down onto the reading surface.

Does the arm stay in position once adjusted?

Yes. The arm uses a friction joint that holds its position once adjusted. Over time and repeated use, the friction may loosen slightly, but the arm should remain stable under normal reading light use without drifting.
