Description

The Tamar is a 280mm flush ceiling light with a cylindrical opal glass diffuser encased in a polished chrome mild steel frame, rated IP44 for bathroom use. A single 5.7W GX53 LED lamp sits inside the opal glass, casting diffused light across the ceiling plane without glare or hotspots. The low-profile mounting sits approximately 85mm from ceiling to base, making it suitable for rooms with 2.2-2.4m ceiling heights where a pendant or semi-flush would hang too low.

Designed for bathrooms, hallways, landings, and entrance areas where moisture resistance and even light distribution are needed, the IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3 (outside the shower enclosure and bath zone). The flush mount conceals the electrical connection behind the ceiling rose, with only the chrome rim and glass cylinder visible once fitted. The chrome thumb screws at each side of the glass cylinder allow the diffuser to be removed for lamp replacement or cleaning.

The polished chrome finish on the mild steel frame provides a high-reflectivity metallic accent that pairs with chrome bathroom fittings, modern taps, and minimalist interiors. The opal glass diffuses the 5.7W LED output across the full 280mm diameter, providing functional ambient light rather than decorative accent lighting. The included GX53 LED delivers approximately 470 lumens at 3000K warm white, sufficient for a 4-6m² bathroom or a 2-3m hallway section.

Can this be used in a bathroom?

Yes. The IP44 rating allows installation in bathroom zones 2 and 3, which covers areas outside the immediate shower enclosure and bath zone. It cannot be installed directly above a bath or inside a shower cubicle (zones 0 and 1).

Does it come with a bulb?

Yes. The Tamar includes a 5.7W GX53 LED lamp at 3000K warm white, delivering approximately 470 lumens. The GX53 is a twist-and-lock fitting, not a screw base, and replacement lamps are widely available.

What ceiling height does it suit?

The 85mm projection from ceiling to base makes the Tamar suited to rooms with 2.2-2.4m ceiling heights where a deeper semi-flush or pendant would feel too low. It works in standard UK new-build ceiling heights and period properties with lower ceilings.

How is the glass removed for cleaning?

Two chrome thumb screws at opposite sides of the glass cylinder allow the diffuser to be unscrewed by hand and lifted away from the frame. Clean the opal glass with a soft damp cloth and distilled water, then refit by reversing the process.
