Description

This tall light-up decoration takes the shape of a narrow ceramic townhouse, glossy black and picked out with fine gold edging along the roofline, the corners and the top of its chimney. Rows of small windows are cut right through the front and sides, with a pair of arched panes sitting over the lower front windows, so light from the LEDs inside shows through every opening once it is lit. The back is left plain and smooth. It stands 20cm tall, 7.5cm wide and 6.5cm deep, so it takes very little room on a shelf.

We think it looks its best where its windows can be seen, on a mantelpiece, a sideboard, a bookcase or a deep windowsill indoors, and the slim base means it fits where a wider ornament would not. The black finish and gold lines give it a smart, grown-up look, so it sits as comfortably in a modern living room as it does among greenery and pine cones on a festive table. Being a light, it is meant for dry rooms indoors only. It also makes a thoughtful Christmas gift for anyone who likes to decorate their home for the season.

The house is made from ceramic with a gloss finish, and the thin gold edging traces the roofline, the corners and the chimney, so the simple shape stays crisp and clean. To keep it looking its best, dust it with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from water, and handle it with care, as ceramic can chip if it is knocked. When the season is over, its compact size makes it easy to pack and store until the following Christmas. Set it at the end of a mantelpiece with a sprig of fir beside it, or wrap it with a handwritten card for someone who loves to light up their shelves in December.

Frequently Asked

How big is this light-up house?

It stands 20cm tall, 7.5cm wide and 6.5cm deep, so it is slim enough for a narrow shelf, a windowsill or the end of a mantelpiece.

What is it made of?

It is made from ceramic with a gloss black finish, and thin gold edging runs along the roofline, the corners and the top of the chimney.

Does it light up?

Yes, it has LED lights inside, and their light shows through the small windows cut into the front and sides of the house.

Is it decorated on all sides?

The front and both sides have cut-out windows, while the back is plain and smooth, so it looks best set against a wall or at the back of a shelf.

Can I use it in a bathroom or outdoors?

No, it is a light for dry rooms indoors only, such as a living room, hallway or bedroom, and it should be kept away from water.

How do I look after it?

Dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth, keep it away from water, and handle it gently, as ceramic can chip if it is knocked.
