Description

The Tabby is a 216mm clear glass globe pendant with a polished nickel canopy and chain suspension, housing a single E27 bulb fitting at its centre. The glass sphere is hand-blown into a perfectly round form with a slightly flared opening at the base, through which the nickel-finished bulb holder descends from the chain above. The clear glass leaves the bulb completely visible, making bulb choice critical to the overall appearance.

Designed for kitchens, dining areas, entrance halls and low-ceiling rooms where a traditional pendant would hang too low, the Tabby provides focused task light or ambient glow depending on the bulb fitted. The adjustable drop ranges from 445mm minimum to 1969mm maximum, allowing it to be set 600-900mm above a kitchen worktop, breakfast bar or console table. The polished nickel finish on the canopy and chain reflects surrounding light, creating a brighter appearance than brushed or antique finishes in the same position.

The 216mm diameter suits single-pendant applications over smaller surfaces or can be clustered in multiples across a longer island or dining table. The clear glass shows dust and fingerprints more readily than frosted or tinted alternatives, but maintains maximum light output and allows decorative filament bulbs to function as intended. The fitting weighs approximately 1.2kg and mounts to a standard UK ceiling rose with the chain concealing the cable run.

What bulb works best with this pendant?

The clear glass and visible fitting suit decorative filament bulbs best. An E27 LED filament bulb in 4-8W at 2700K gives a warm vintage appearance. Standard LED GLS bulbs also work but lack the visual interest of exposed filament designs. Maximum wattage is 60W.

Can the drop height be adjusted after installation?

The drop is adjustable on installation only, by shortening the chain and cable before connecting to the ceiling rose. Once installed, changing the drop requires removing the pendant and re-fitting. The chain allows drops between 445mm and 1969mm.

Is the glass prone to showing marks?

Yes. Clear glass shows dust, fingerprints and water marks more visibly than frosted or tinted glass. Clean with a soft dry cloth or glass cleaner applied to the cloth rather than directly onto the glass. Handle by the metal fittings during installation to avoid marking the sphere.

Can multiple Tabby pendants be clustered together?

Yes. The 216mm diameter allows multiple pendants to be spaced 300-400mm apart across a kitchen island or dining table without visual crowding. Ensure ceiling roses are positioned to allow each pendant to hang vertically without the chains or globes touching.
